One of the goals of our PEAK Wellness Programs is to learn and gain the skills and education for creating a strong foundation to physical, mental and emotional wellness, thus providing the freedom to create the life you deserve – Food Freedom is a significant pillar of living a PEAK Life!
I often hear PEAK Program Members tell me they have hesitations or fears about reintroducing foods because during their initial dietary transitions they experienced the best they’ve felt in decades. Or, I hear requests to “stay on” the detox shakes continuously for convenience or, again, because it’s the best the member has felt in years.
I hope to encourage you to be courageous and participate, carefully, in a safe and controlled environment, in the reintroduction process and find joy in the exploration of a diversity of food! You can only gain Food Freedom from exploring your boundaries and learning your body’s needs!
Dr. Lexie’s Story
When I was 23, I was covered in a rash that consumed 15% of my body and stole my ability to enjoy family functions or even take care of some of my basic needs – the opposite of the strong independent woman I was brought up to be!
I found out that my gut health was wrecked, thereby disrupting my skin, nervous system, immune system, and endocrine (hormone) system. It came down to four main foods causing the disruption that lasted more than 15 months. In fairness, if I had the structured system you have in this PEAK Program, I could have healed quicker.
Fifteen months was a long time to feel miserable, and I felt I had lost a lot of myself in that process – the fatigue alone was overwhelming. I was fearful that if I even tried one of those four foods again – be it 2 weeks later, 2 years later, or a whopping 10 years later – I would find myself back where I was. Miserable. Feeling hopeless. Relying on help and support. Not showing up. Not being me…
The reality was, I put myself into my own Food Prison. And, I justified it to everyone, “I’m not going back there! You don’t know what it was like!” A few years went by and I’d try the lowest reactive food. OK, that worked… But, I wasn’t mentally ready to try another. This went on until 10 years after I had eliminated all four foods, I finally tried the scariest one again.
Ten years – I lived in a limited bubble, too worried, too scared, to try a food – this wasn’t even a commitment to eat the food continuously! Do you see the kind of Food Prison I inflicted on myself? Worst yet, is the amount of distrust this demonstrated in my body’s own ability to truly heal and become resilient.
I hope to support and encourage you with our team and our resources in our PEAK Program, so you don’t have to experience the same kind of prison – be it food or anything else preventing you from living your most FREE and most enjoyable life!
Food is a beautiful way to nourish the body and to explore the amazing flavors of life. Whole foods should always be our primary source of nutrition in a PEAK Life!
If you have reservations, mindset blocks, or concerns about any “Prisons” that may be preventing you from experiencing true “Freedom,” please reach out to our team in one of our many weekly group classes – I promise you’re not alone and you may have just the right thing to encourage a peer to break free as well!
